The rest of the story...

So I had only posted how the kiddos did at the Western Idaho Fair. We finally went to the fair the last weekend and was pleased to see that all of my stuff got ribbons! WooHoo for me! I picked it all up a week ago, but with school starting..I'm really behind on a lot of things.

Here is the fun stuff you all want to see:

Scrapbooking category, 3rd place. I felt great about this one, because it is really a simple layout. At Canyon County, I got second against about 4 entries. At Western Idaho I got 3rd out of about 15...so it did well!

This was entered in the Other Paper crafting of Merit category. Love it!

At the last minute, I through together this card for the rubber stamped category. I had some others I thought about entering, but started playing around and came up with this. Honorable Mention is great when there are 10+ cards in the category!

Here was my entry in the Christmas Card category. The judge wrote on the back of the tag that it was simple but beautiful. Fourth place sounds good to me!

Here was my Halloween card for the "Other Holiday" category. There were quite a few in this category as well. WooHoo...2nd place!

Here was my birthday card. I love this card. I originally made it for a swap with some friends. Fourth place, and there were a bunch of birthday cards.

Finally, not something I made necessarily, but those with small children will understand. They do artwork like crazy and I have no great place to put it. I also had this blank wall down in the family room (which is conveniently next to the craft area) so I did this! I love IKEA! Now to get the kids to use more color! LOL

Happy Crafting everyone!

Oh, and one more thing....

Here is another of my creative things lately.....the donut cake!

Come on now...admit it....this is an awesome looking cake! LOL My whole family (plus Kyle's friend) just loved it! It was a pudding filled donut cake even. SO YUMMY!!

Western Idaho Fair!

It was finally time to find out how the kids did at the Western Idaho Fair. They had a great time putting stuff together to enter. I don't have pictures of everything, and I don't even have a picture of my kids their stuff as they wouldn't stay still! Silly children just wanted to ride the rides..LOL I actually took these pics when I was sneaking around the department before the fair opened.

Zoey's painting of the "Outdoors". Tree, lake, etc..

Zoey's drawing of "People"..this is a pictures of our family, all the way down to the cat. Awwwwwwwww She got a participation ribbon on this one, but I thought it was super cute.

This is DJ's painting of a flowers. I guess you can sort of see a flower in there right?

Again here is DJ's animal entry. He got a participation ribbon on this, but at the time I was taking pictures, they hadn't put them all on.

The big kid Kyle's drawing.

DJ got an honorable mention on his beadwork necklace. I'm glad there is a category for the little kids in this division!

Zoey got a second place in her division with her necklace. She did a great job, but the mommy got involved and made her re-string part of it when I noticed she spelled her middle name wrong..LOL

DJ got a participation ribbon on his "any craft project made by a 5 and under"...this was his pencil holder for his desk. Very cute, and used up a bunch of my left over stickers!

Zoey got a first place on her magnet board. It looked better all displayed, but at this time..it was still laying down on the table.

DJ's awesome spiderman greeting card....

...and Zoey's awesome spiderman greeting card.

An awesome pictures that Zoey took of her little brother. 2nd place in "People" Very cute pic of the little guy!

DJ's flower photo

Zoey's "other animal" photo. This was a lizard at the Boise Zoo.

And a 4th place with a photo of her grandma's horse.

Now this next one is really truly the love of a mother. Only a mom that loves her son more than anything would allow this photo to be entered in the fair. I love you DJ boy....please don't ever take pics like this again..LOL

This is one of mine. I don't have pics of all the things in the paper crafting department yet. I didn't even think about it when I was at the fair tonight. I'll have to post after I pic everything up.

And an awesome pic of my baby girl at Wallowa Lake. The pic of the pic is bad, but the pic is good....if you follow my logic..haha

And just because I can...here is a cute pic I took of my daughter tonight as she was steet dancing with a clown.

It was a great fair! I got a few ribbons on my scrapbooking/cards, so I'll have to upload those after I pick them up next week. In fact, I think I got a ribbon on all of my papercrafting items! Excellent!

More later!

Happy Crafting!

Kyle and his artwork

I teach middle school, so I know my sons love of the "creepy" and the "fantastic" isn't unusual. I love that he spends more time drawing and writing his story than playing video games and such.

Here is his entry from the fair with his 3rd place ribbon on it! I don't know why he took such an odd picture of it, but the art work is what is the most important anyway! :)

Fair Photography

I love to take pictures, but I'm not that good at it. I like to take pictures of my kids mainly, but come fair time I always try to get some good ones and see how they compare with everyone else. Only a few of my pictures got ribbons, but that is better than last year!

This is Zoey sliding down a pile of rocks at Grandpa's house. It was entered in sports and action. Falling in the rocks was definitely action! :)

This was entered in the "River" category. This river flows into Wallowa Lake by Joseph, OR. The river was so high that it went right into the area where the picnic benches were. Very fun picture.

My "collage" entry. These were all taken in Enterprise, OR at the inlaws. my Father in law was teaching my 4 year old how to shoot a BB gun, while the big boys (hubby and 15 year old) took the real guns out and went after ground squirrels.

Buffy, the inlaws kitty cat in the "Pet" category. She is super sweet and super soft.

Mountain near Enterprise, OR for the "Landscape B/W" category.

I love being crafty, and I think that includes photography doesn't it? I'll try and post some more of the things I've done recently in the next few days.

Happy Crafting!

Crafting with DJ

Yep..the 4 year old get to have some fun too! He makes me cards all the time..I'll have to find the valentines card he made me later..totally cute!

This is his entry in the "animal" drawing category. He beat his sister that drew the farting unicorn.

This was for the "flower" category.

And then his "people" picture he calls "Mommy and Me". Everybody together now....awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

And lastly, since we were all making cards, he wanted to make one too. Here is his very favorite item, the Spiderman card.

Didn't he do a great job? I don't know what the next fair will bring for them...they have so many ideas, but Mommy only has so much time and money! :)

Crafting with Zoey

I craft with my kiddos ALL the time. They love to "play with paper and glue" but this of course means they are into everything in my craft cabinet.

Here are some of the things my daughter entered in the recent county fair.

Zoey (age 6) entered this picture of her Grandma P's horse "Andar". She loves taking pictures with my camera. She quickly outgrew her Fisher Price little pink one...I think she needs a fancier one for Christmas.

This is Zoey's "Family Tree Magnet Board" that she is so proud of. You can't see it in the picture, but up in the top right hand corner there is a green ribbon. If you pull the green ribbon, a card comes out from behind the paper that says "Peterson." Pretty clever for a 6 year old right?

In the drawing categories, she did a self portrait for the "People" category.

This was the flower category.

The "scenery" category. This is a picture of the mountains at her Grandma's house.

And the "Animal" category. This is her unicorn. Is it just me, or does it look like her unicorn is farting stars?

Finally, she wanted to enter a card in the fair just like Mommy. I LOVE her card!! So cute!

Ok...giving this craft blogging a try.

I know I struggle with blogging...but I'm going to try my best to do this again. I used to have a bunch of stuff on here that was old and outdated, so now I'm ready to begin again. Welcome to my Creavity Cove!

Let me start this brand new adventure with some of the stuff I just entered at a local county fair. I had a great time with these, and I can't wait for the next fair to see how I do there as well.

Forgive the poor quality pics. I've been sick for a few days, so I did most of this while running around in my jammies and sneezing.

First, my entry into the "Christmas Wreath" category. I LOVE my cricut cutter and this awesome cartridge Winter Lace. I made this by cutting out lots of different snowflakes, hooking them together and then using my awesome Stickles glitter glues to do the decorating. Loved how it turned out!

Next up is a 7 Gypsies printer tray that I put pictures of my daughter in every month for her first year. She is now 6...I'm a little behind! LOL I entered this in a class called "combined materials" as it had many different things included.

In the paper category, there was a class for "card set" so I did something different this time. Totally not my normal style and such, but fun to do and apparently they were liked!

Scrapbook page category, I did these pages of my son at Preschool. Isn't he just the most handsome little man you have ever seen??

Christmas wall hanging category? Yep...pictures of my kiddos at a pretty young age. I think I might re-do this with current Christmas pics this winter.

Here is my entry in the "Easter" category. Anything Easter went here. This was a pretty open category, so fun to see that it did so well. The eggs are digital stamps.

This was for the "Halloween" category.

For the "Thanksgiving" category.

And this was for the "Any Other Holiday" category. Wouldn't it be funny to do like...Arbor Day..or...Columbus Day? Something totally not mainstream?

Ok..thats all for this post. I also won a 3rd place ribbon in the Christmas Ornament, and that was basically the same as the wreath, just one snowflake. In the theme class of "Grow it and Show it" I got a blue ribbon on a card that was basically a big blue ribbon with a pumpkin in the center of the ribbon. Rather corny, but apparently they liked it. I entered some photography as well, and my kids did stuff...so I'll be back with more posts later.

Happy Crafting!
